Tillandsia xerographica is one of the easier air plants to care for. It is also one of the only air plants you can place outside in direct sun (all year round in a mild climates or during summer in seasonal climates). Mist 1-2 times per week or soak for 30 minutes every 1-2 weeks, more when it’s dry and less when it’s humid. Be sure to shake out excess water that might collect inside the plant and allow it to dry within 4 hours after watering.

Each Tillandsia is hand picked and cared for with love while waiting to meet it’s new owner. Please Note that each Tillandsia will vary slightly in shape, size and color and can have small blemishes as they are real, living plants. We always inspect each one thoroughly to ensure that the plants are 100% healthy before sending.

Description

Take home a wonderful and popular air plant. Tillandsia xerographica is a slow growing air plant that is donned with beautiful, silver colored stiff leaves that make an attractive rosette. When watered frequently the xerographica’s leaves will uncurl and when watered infrequently the leaves will curl into the rosette shape. Both looks are attractive and it’s up to the preference of the owner of which they prefer. The flower stem can range from 6-18 inches high with colors ranging from pink to red with purple flowers. This hardy air plant requires very little water as it inhabits dry forests and desert-scapes. Display this lovely air plant in a decorative shallow dish, in a hanger or place on a shelf by itself for a beautiful addition to your home.

New To Air Plants? Learn More!

What are air plants? Their technical name is Tillandsia and they are one of the few plants out there that don’t require dirt to thrive. They are epiphytes which means they use their roots as grabbers to attach to trees and rocks instead of using them in the dirt. Some air plant species actually do use their roots in dirt but there aren’t too many like that. Air plants receive nutrients through their leaves by way of tiny little trichomes. Water and air both can have the nutrients they need to thrive and grow bigger. Air plants are very slow growing compared to most other plants and you might not see any noticeable growth for a year or two! Air plants are also related to the more commonly known bromeliad which you will see quite often at nurseries or grocery stores.
